Hi, I prefer to use a Macintosh running OS X and was wondering if anyone could suggest embroidery software (like Embird) for the Mac. Also, I have the Kenmore Ergo3 and was wondering if anyone knew the maximum number of embroidery files per card (I have a 64 MB card) that the Kenmore will read. I would like to put all of my embroidery patterns on a single card. They will fit on the card, but will the machine accept more than 100 files? Thanks! |

The only software I know of that will work with a Mac is Pfaff VIP. At this point it is no longer available but you can probably get it for next to nothing from a delaer or the internet. Although an excellent software in its time it is very limited by todays standards. I'm trying to remember why Pfaff says it is no longer needed (Mac compatability). I will find out and post later. Anyway, if you had VIP you coud use it in conjuction with most other programs to obtain the features of the newer softwares. On second thought I am not sure this would work at all. Maybe someone else will remember if there is a way to make VIP convert and talk in to your machine.

I think that some are running MAC machines with the IBM format (whatever that is called) and running artista but then, I would think that almost anything would run that way, wouldn't it? You can tell PC speak is not my thing.

I made a mistake. It was the Pfaff PCD not VIP that would work with Mac. I can't see how you could make it work with JEF or JEM in a Mac though.

Thanks for the information. It looks like I'm out of luck with a Mac, until I purchase the new generation that has built-in PC emulation. I was able to use a PC laptop and Tajima to do some simple file conversion. I guess I will stick to the PC world for my machine embroidery. |
