I love this. Don't let the showy leg scare you off. Click on next in upper right corner for more scenes. There are about a dozen in all.

What great photographs. There is something about capturing the hands of the workers which was intriguing; like capturing someone's soul as they can't hide their hands - unless they wear gloves. I seem to remember Steigliz capturing Georgia o'Keefe's hands in one of his portfolios (he got her in the nude too....lots more risky in the 20's than the leg in the first photo. :)

Anyway, thanks Mary, those were wonderful.

Of course Jan likes the feathers....reminds me of the wedding photos with all the hats!

I'd rather see the workhouse than the runway stuff.

No one looks very *happy* to be there but I suppose it's their "Hell Week" or whatever they call it...

Thanks, Mary. Great pictures.

Thanks for sharing the link with us. I've always wondered how they work on haute couture. Amusing how most of them over at Dior were wearing white. It's like they're in a clinic!

That was me (much younger) with the tape measure around the neck. I live with a tape measure around my neck and pins in my bodice (sometimes a needle). I'm forever forgetting to take the pins out and I end up putting them in the visor of the car when I go out...sometimes I wash them (probably not good, esp when they end up in my underwear).

Me too with the tape measure! Shame I haven't got the Chanel necklace to go with it!!:bluesmile

Great to see inside the workrooms and interesting to see that they have domestic machines in there as well as industrials (I too have a domestic just for the fine fabrics, so looks like I'm doing something right!!)

Fab pictures, thanks!!

Really enjoyed that Mary, thanks! Makes me want to get downstairs and start creating!! I think it would be really neat to be able to draw out a picture of what you want, then build it. What fun to spend some time in one of those factories, learning some of the techniques!!
