I was just sent this. If you can help, please respond here.

I bought a 180 bernina artista recently. I would like to know more about the soft wear for that machine, so I can buy the recent embroidery cards or the ones necessary for that machine... Please inform me I find no help any place. This machine sews beautifully and was hardly used.

My knowledge of the 180 is limited. I know that it can be upgraded to a 185 machine and that changes the types of hoops that it uses. I think the machine takes Artista cards which can be used with a Magic Box. The machine takes ART designs and changes them "somehow" to EXP during the process od downloading to the machine. I don't know if it will read EXP files outright or not.

I believe you will need a Magic box (probably the new one) and card for your machine to get designs to it. You would also need the proper design card to write to. The Magic Box can change designs from one format to another and write them on your card.

There are two software programs that will write ART files. One is the Bernina which has at least two parts, Editor (Plus I think) and Designer Plus. There is also a wonderful program called Explorations which is a little different type of program. You can get information on both programs. Explorations at embroideryonline.com (OESD is owned by Bernina) and you can find information at the www.berninaUSA.com site. After you sign on you can get a lot of information at that site (enrollement is free). Under the community header you will find a message board listed. If you address your problems there you'll find people who have had your specific machine. Hopefully a 180E owner will also come along and help you here.
