Who is superstitious? If you are, be careful. This is the word that defines the real fear of Friday 13. Paraskavedekatriaphobia MaryW

I turned 13 y/o on Friday the 13th a long, long time ago. My son was born on the 13th but it wasn't a Friday. |

Not me I made Friday the 13th my lucky day a long time ago and actually look forward to them. It's all in how you look at it.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Susy, I thought I was going to be the only one who thought that Friday the 13th is a lucky day! Actually, Friday 13th is always a lucky day for me and I look forward to them, too! |

If you're just afraid or hate 13, especially Friday 13, then triskaidexaphobic is the word for you. I have no aversion or fear of 13, but find it fascinating that people and cultures put such significance on numbers. They have their favorites, like 7 and their "bad" numbers like 13. Thanks for the thread, Katherine Katherine McCrea

Didn't Friday the 13th get its bad rep when the Pope and King of France went after the Knights Templar and all their money? Dorothy |

Back in the "old days"....when my parents were born...1920... If a baby was born on the 13th or Friday the 13th, when families took the babies to get baptized (sometimes the only record of their birth) mothers would just say they were born on another day. My father and his brother were both 13th babies and their official record of birth is the 15th. I try not to be superstitious as Murphy already resides with us. Patty

Thirteen has been historically an unlucky number unless you're talking about a baker's dozen. Friday was considered bad among Christians because the Crucifixion happened on a Friday. So, that makes Friday the 13th especially bad for those who think such things. For those who are superstitious about the date, this is the last one this year. Katherine McCrea

Well it is over and I had my bit of bad luck. Pulled the old pop-up camper out today and opened it up and found that my roof is bowing and it broke the bar that is supposed to keep it bowing. There is a leak around the air conditioner and another leak that is coming out from under the sink. UUGH! I should have left it until Saturday.

That's two of us Dorothy. I think those attorneys saved all their work for me while I was out on sick leave because they sure did dump it on me this past week even though I only worked 4 hours each day. Patsy Patsy

It looks like there's any number of reasons for it to be unlucky. I guess I'd consider it unlucky if some of these things happened to me as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/13_(number) I have no issues with 13 at all but have always thought that 23 was my lucky number. It seems to come up a lot and in a positive way. Don't know why. Pauline
