Hello, Everyone! I just finished a purse for a friend who is a Betty Boop fan. She bought the fabric and asked me to make her a purse the same style as my coffee purse. To hers, I added a detachable shoulder strap. Here is what I did with her fabric: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-50741223401541_1959_485897 She's calling a collector purse...mmm, maybe she wants me to make more Betty Boop purses for her. That is very pretty. My Betty Boop collection is in my black and white bathroom, just seemed like the perfect fit.

Very, very cute but hard to match to anything you're wearing. I don't worry about matching per se, but having it not really, really clash would be tough. Still, very cute. Lennie |

Very cute purse. I like Betty Boop too, tho most of the purses I've made for myself or either for Holidays, or are cat prints. I made my mom an Elvis purse and a western print purse with detachable handles, with the plan of later making her more purses to use with the same handles. Maybe for her birthday in November. She sings on Friday nights at a place near her home and she loves to have a unique purse to take with her. You should see her collection of western skirts. BTW, my aunt (her sis) does a Minnie Pearl act at the same place. (you should see her hat collection) I never would have dreamed it 20 years ago. |

I have never made a purse and that is very pretty....Did you use a pattern? No pattern. I just measured and cut the fabric to the finished size plus 1/2 inch seam allowances. All the straps and tabs were cut 4x their finished widths. For different shapes or more complicated pieces I will make a master pattern and use that because I don't want to have to figure it out each time I go to make a certain style. Katherine McCrea

What a cute purse. I myself am not a Betty Boop fan but I like the purse. Who cares if it doesn't go with what you are wearing, if you like it use it! I bet she will get tons of questions and compliments about the purse.

The purse is mostly B/W with some red and yellow thrown in. I should think it would go with everything! Betty Boop isn't my thing, either...but my friend likes it and that's all that really matters. Katherine McCrea

Thanks, Kelly! I like a wide variety of things, but when it comes to licensed characters I think Sylvester is my favorite or Marvin the Martian. Katherine McCrea

Katherine, I love it when you brag. You always have something so fun to show! The bag is darling. I have a friend who also loves Betty Boop. Would you mind if I copy your idea? Jay

Go right ahead...if you sell it, though tell everyone where you got the idea from. Thanks for your compliment. Katherine McCrea
