Hello from New Zealand, I have loved and enjoyed sewing for years and came across this site when doing some research on Coverstitch machines. I have been looking at getting one for a while and finding a site like this has certainly helped. So a big thankyou to everyone for their information and comments. I look forward to reading more posts and getting to know you all. Thanks again |

Hello and welcome! Just heard all about the floods in your country. Horrible. Were you affected? This is a terrific group of folks. Hope to see you here often. Lennie |

Hello and welcome Kiwisewinggirl. I spent 6 months in NZ in 2004/05- such a beautiful country. Lovely merino wool fabrics and some very creative uses for possum fur! The fashion design industry there is pretty impressive for a relatively small country. I have a (made in NZ) jacket and a couple of skirts I brought back that are so unique, I want to try and copy them once I improve my sewing skills. What kind of sewing do you do? |

Hi Kiwisewingirl, welcome to the group. Brother makes a pretty good coverstitch machine as does Pfaff and Bernina. Do write back and let us know what you buy. Inquiring minds want to know Also, check back often and tell us about your sewing projects. Marty |

Thanks everyone for the lovely welcome. I have not had a chance to get back on here for afew days, so it was a lovely surprise to see the replies. Lennie, where we live we did have the storms, they changed it to a catergory 2-3 cyclone. It was not very nice, but we had minimal damage luckily. I feel for all the others that had floods and trees damage from the wind. We had flooding back in March as well but this storm I think did as just much damage if not a bit more because we had strong wind as well as rain. Angela, glad you liked our country. The companies that produce the wool and possum products are certainly producing some beautiful garments and accessories. I have been sewing since I was quite young, starting with dolls clothes and moving on to make my own clothes. Now I have a hubbie and 3 boys to sew for and I love making things for them (but the boys are getting older and more fussy now). I also enjoy sewing for family and friends. The most frustrating thing is not enough time to do do more. But I try to make the most of it when I can. Thanks again Cheryl |
