how about quilting and sewing...the fq's work great for soem small sewing items as well as always being able to be used in quilting

Is there a link somewhere that explains just what the swaps are? I have a vague idea, but it is very vague. You send in so many of something and get something back. There ya go, that is the sum total of my swap knowledge, lol.

Theresa: There is but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it. so I will explain, or try to. you pretty much have the basics, you sign up by what ever date the host decides that she wants the names and address and since the theme for august is garage sale, which means any fabric you have in your stash that you don't like or want to get rid of you make it as a fat quater which is 22x18., and the host send the list of names to everyone who has signed up and they must be sent in time to the ladies so they can reach them by a certain date. This sounds so interesting, but I am hesitant to sign up, as I have never done anything like this before. Also, I'm not a quilter, so I wonder if anyone would like my fabric, although it is 100% cotton. So a fat quarter would be 1/2 yard, correct? Just the right size for shorts or shirt for my daughter... I was looking at another message board recently, and someone was complaining about the quality of the swap that they received. So I guess I'm wondering how forgiving you all are...if you didn't like my choice what would happen. Theresa

Theresa, a fat quarter is 18 x 22 inches...you can get 4 fat quarters out of a yard of fabric but it's easy to combine the fabrics and make some really cute shorts and such for the kids in mix and match kind of way.

I haven't heard any complaints about us yet, so I would say that we are pretty even tempered. Not everyone here is a "Died in the Wool" quilter (yet), but I do know that we sew many, many different projects and I'm sure that if the fabric someone has recieved is not quilt quality, IT STILL IS useable for another craft project. Even good enough to use for practice machine quilting for those who are just learning to quilt. Some of my FQ's are going to be used up from my stash to make the towel holder part that fits over your frig or stove handle to make hand towels for my daughter baby shower. Dish towels are pretty cheap right now and I can embroider on them to mix or match the design of the fabric, plus they make good "Thanks for Coming" gifts for her shower guests. Plus there is always a Gargage Swap!!!!! Come on Temom, sign up and have a blast with all of us!!!! |

ok I think that like the bingo game, I am going to let sign up go to at least Friday, the 3rd of August, fact that things on the site are a little messed up. I will send the names out to everyone on Saturday the 4th, and they need to be in the mail between August 20th and August 24th. so everyone can have them on the 31st. enjoy your selves judy |

I am just as sad as everyone else is, we still can do the swap until Mary shuts down the site, after that we can continue by e-mail, and if we want to continue swaps we can work together, by trying to do by e-mail, I would be more then willing to use one of my e-mail account for a swap, and e-mail everyone if they want to send me their e-mail addresses. we have two weeks to work on something, we all like the swaps, so we can do this. I can have an e-mail account on my regulare isp I am allowed I think three. so give me some feed back. Judy p.s. Since most of my "spare" fabric is upholstery goods... I am going to just go buy some PReTTY stuff to send out.. Who knows.. maybe i will get inspired to start another project! (Like I don't have enough to do?? LOL!) Anyway -- Thank you for including me! And thank you Judy for all your hard work doing all the things you do here.

You can edit your membership to get daily individual e mail, digests or no e mails. Ask again if you can't find it & I will try to walk you through it.

Hi all, I am walking to the post office this morning to send the rest of my fat q.out, my car is being fixed by my husband, an ax needs to be replaced, so the post office is less then ten minutes away, so I am going to walk that way this morning. have a great day judy p.s. my fat q's have gone out in the mail, judy |
