My niece (who is 10 and wanting to learn to sew) inherited an older sewing machine from her late grandfather. It is a Kenmore Model 117-552 and I cannot find a manual for it anywhere. It is evident I'm not threading it right for it doesn't work, lol Anyone know of where I might find one? I don't seem to get the notifications on replies for some reason, so if I don't answer quickly, it's because I haven't been back in yet. Thanks! Faye |

I do have the right model number, that is what is so frustrating, it's very hard to find the manual. I did find one place that had it, but the amount of $$ they wanted was a bit overboard, so... being the optomist I am, I'm sure I can find it more reasonably, lol |

You might try www.sewinusa.com for a manual. I found one for a 1942 Kenmore flatbed for about $12 (includes shipping). There is a vintage website for Kenmores but I forget what the link is. You might try to google "vintage kenmore sewing machines". Hope this helps. Marty |

I probably have that book. I will check today. What you have is actually a White Rotary made for Sears under the Kenmore name. Are you sure you are using the right needles for it?
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

lol, glad you know what it is, Tom. As for the needles, I haven't changed out anything on it, so whatever they had in it, it's still there. We just got it out of a dusty shed, where it has been sitting for years. It needs a good (internal) cleaning, I'm sure, but after my hubby replacing the wires it runs pretty good. Now to just be able to thread it correctly - that is all I really need, threading instructions. Everything else seems to be pretty self explanatory. |

"Now to just be able to thread it correctly - that is all I really need, threading instructions." Here's a different model with the same threading: http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Kenmore_Sewing_Machine_Threading/kenmore_117591_threading_diagram.htm Bill Holman |
