Well this is why I love the summer holidays - finally time to sew! Here in England we get the last week or so of July and the whole of August off school so I have been waiting until now to finish my table runner.

This was inspired by Ricky Tims Convergence quilts - which I have to say was a whole heap easier to do that when I just looked at the pictures and very satisfying. One of the questions he keeps asking in the book is "What if I do this.." A liberating experience - I made the middle just as an experiment and then thought what if I put some more green around it ...what if I add some stripes at the ends...what if I make cushion covers to match...how about I put a few scaps on them as a motif....

You can get carried away like that!

here is the table runner

I am not convinced I like the square on them - I may well remove them and just leave it with the contrast stripe.

This is my new front room/living room in case anyone is interested!

The green is OK but not to our taste - we prefer more neutral colours and so will be going blander with time!

and looking the other way from the dining end.

Enjoy!

Jan, the table runner is spectacular, I love the design. It's hard to figure out the pattern. The pillows are great too, I think they would look great with or without the square in the middle. I would just use the contrast stripe if it was me. Your house is fantastic, I love the fireplace! Enjoy your summer.:bluesmile

I love the color contrasts in the runner -- that kind of a wave thing.

Thanks peeps,
this is a 'close up' http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e81/Janicehodge/?action=view&current=IMG_0223.jpg

Ignore where the squares don't quite match up. It is an interesting way of marrying together 2 contrasting fabrics. And guess what Dorothy, It Is Not A Quilt!

Close up, Debby, the fireplace is a nasty electric bar heater - however - there is a proper pot lined flue behind it so once I get the sweep in to remove the Dead Things that Lurk Beyond we can have a proper fire.
