I love to sew, I am 55 and really learned to sew in high school. My present from my parents for my B.S. in chemistry was a sewing machine. It was a thrill when I found a retro fit universal model buttonhole maker for that machine with cams! I still think I preferred an attachment for making buttonholes, even though I currently have 2 new loves, a 990 Viking and an SE.

My prides in sewing include a wedding gown for my friend of beaded, sequined aloncon lace, ($250.00 a yard) - talk about scissor anxiety! Suits for my sons, a bedspread quilted with thick batting - at the time I did not know that people didn't really quilt with that - I now do quilting with my friend we do videos and call ourselves Top to Bobbin. I'm looking forward to exchanging stories with you!

Hi YoYoMom and welcome to the group. Be sure to check in often and post photos of your projects. Do you hand or machine quilt as inquiring minds want to know?

My friend and I are machine quilters, our next project is going to be crazy quilting out of old ties. It's really a stitch! What about you?

Oh, I'm not a quilter. I mainly sew garments and community service items for my ASG chapter. I'm almost 55 and have been married for close to 37 years. We only have one DD who is about to start college in 3 weeks. A friend recently asked if I was going to have the "empty nest" syndrome. Then she saw me smile :bg: and said that I looked too happy for an empty nester. I retired about 6 years ago and haven't looked back. Now, I just do things that give me pleasure.
