I was browsing the prior post in this forum and spotted this skirt. I would love to make my dd something similar. I believe she may have gotten the pattern from youcanmakethis.com. I would love to buy the pattern and make one, but I do not have funds available for that at this time.

I have instructions for a tiered skirt, I'm pretty sure that I could make the waistband(yoke?) from that pattern and then just cut vertical strips to make the skirt. Also, I know the petty coat is attached on the seam of the waist and strips area of the skirt. The things I'm not sure of is how many strips I would need, or rather how much I would need to increase the measurement from the waist measurement. double?? triple??(my instructions include information to figure the length for the layers of the tiered skirt, maybe I should use one of those figures??) Also, would I want the petty coat to have the same measurements as the finished strip area or would it need to be bigger or smaller? And I assume that I would want the ruffle on the petty coat to be 1 1/2 or 2 times the length of the petty coat before gathered.

I hope this makes sense and I would be very thankful for any help. Also if anyones interested I can post the link to the tiered skirt tutorial. I haven't made one yet, but from the best I can tell the instructions are accurate and very detailed.

Thanks again,
Amy

Amy, the instructions for making this skirt is on the www.YouCanMakeThis.com website. It gives instructions on how to take the measurements as well as how to attach the petticoat. Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't see your comment on finances. If you google "twirly skirt" several websites with free tutorials and instructions plus diagrams appear. Hope this helps.
