I'm finally done with it. I have been in a sewing slum for awhile now and finally decided to finish my daughters back to school outfit. Please let me know what you guys really think and be honest. I plan on listing this outfit on ebay which will be my very first listing. Wish me luck everyone. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q248/RedEyesWife/schooloutfit5.jpg |

Looks very bright and cheery. Any little girl would be lucky to have something that cute to wear. In our community, all of the public and private schools have uniforms - stifles creativity in my opinion. Marty |

I think it is cute and only because you asked for our honest opinion and seemed like you wanted it no matter what it is--what is the point of the pocket on the front? It seems odd and I just don't know that it would be helpful.. a kiddo could put scissors, pens, pencils in there and if they fall or get hit or anything then they might get hurt. I really like the fabric, and I think it is a cute shirt, it's just the pocket seems odd.. |

You are right though, there is no point for the pocket. It is mainly for looks, and it was on the pattern so I used it lol. Guess I should think about things before I do them. Thanks for all the compliments on the outfit though. I really do value everyones opinion from this site and for you guys being honest with me. |

I am confused though. Is it your daughter's back to school outfit or are you selling it on E-bay or both???

That is very cute indeed! My daughter loves pockets on the front like that. Some of the stuff my daughter puts in such pockets are little stickers, still on the backing, just in case she needs them, a tiny stuffed teddy bear (it is pink, in case you wanted to know), kleenex, little strawberry shortcake dolls (her babies), my little ponies...and even an occasional tissue when she is sneezy. The front pockets are much easier to access than those in her jeans. Very rarely does she have something in her jeans pockets. You do need to make an iron-clad rule - absolutely no crayons in the pockets! What pattern did you use? Theresa

I am confused though. Is it your daughter's back to school outfit or are you selling it on E-bay or both??? This outfit here is for my daughter. I plan on doing a custom made size 5-7 on eBay. I have 2 years before my youngest starts school. My husband wants me to go back to work, and of course I do not lol. So my goal is to sell on eBay so I can continue to stay at home. I sure hope this works, it's been so long since i've actually had to "leave" the house for work lol. |

Selling on e-bay takes a ton of patience, but I wish you all the best of luck with it. Once you get it started, it works out great and you can make a lot of money there. I am starting to understand the pockets. Maybe a rule about nothing sharp in the pocket--then she can't get hurt. A doll, stickers, temp. tattoos--that makes sense. |

I'm curiuos, did you design the outfit or use a pattern? If you're ebaying how does that affect the pattern copyright? I've thought about selling things on ebay too, but I don't think you can make & sell items you make from a commercial pattern.

Most of the patterns which are sold have a one pattern per person type copywrite which means that technically they can't even be used for multiple members of the same group of people. You are not legally allowed to sell the garments made from the commercial patterns. I do not know of any exceptions to these rules although some private or smaller pattern companies may have exceptions of which I am unaware.

I do not know of any exceptions to these rules although some private or smaller pattern companies may have exceptions of which I am unaware. The only company that I know of that grants rights to use its patterns for "profit" is Morrissey . . . .all of the patterns are for doll clothing however. |
