Hi, All! I have been "lurking" here for some time, and I totally enjoy reading all the posts from everyone! Now, I find myself needing some help!! My daughter is getting married in November, and she already has her dress (thank Heavens!), but she wants me to make a dress for her flowergirl. She wants it to be similar to her's, and wants it to have sash to match the bridesmaids dresses. Not a problem, but... the wedding dress has a lot of pick-ups in the skirt. I have no idea of how to make the pick-ups. Is it just fabric gathered in several points, and tacked with thread? How do I determine these points? The other problem I would have is matching the fabric. The wedding dress is beautiful silk, in a diamond white. Does anyone know of a good place to find the fabric? Thank you so much, in advance, for any help! Candy |

Candy -- I'm afraid I can't be of too much help, but www.denverfabrics.com seems to have a large selection of silk. I've never ordered from them, though. I'm not exactly sure about the pick up skirt either -- what you're saying sounds about right, though. How old is the flower girl? I wonder if there are any little girl's dress patterns out there with pick up skirts..that would probably make your job easier. Good luck -- it sounds like it will be really cute! http://www.sew-whats-up.com - the new home for Sew What's New

This is from Simplicity Costume (http://simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=9902), but the Belle/Beauty version sort of counts as a pick-up skirt. Not the style I had pictured though when I read your post.
