Barb, that's great! I am talking to my husband about setting up my own boards (DH is a computer programmer and knows a lot about such things), but I'm not sure when we will be able to get things started. I'll certainly join everyone over in the yahoo groups and keep you posted. Thanks!

I've just joined your group  I also just wanted to add that I use a free forum for another group that I started, it is easier to use than yahoo groups imo, it is not the same as this site but similar. If anyone is interested in being the administrator for it I could share the info (I'd offer to do it, but I already run one site and just don't want to be responsible for two LOL  ).

Soph I just made you a moderator also. Anyone with a moderator title only do as much as you are comfortable with. If you go into edit membership on your own name at the bottom it will let you know what you can do. If you want more or less let me know & I will change it.

I joined the Yahoo group, my yahoo id is cshortteach. However, I have a concern about the messages being available for everyone to see instead of for members only. When I joined groups with public messages before I started getting a lot of of spam. Would it be possible to make the messages available to members only.

Carol - the messages on this site are available for people to see without necessarily being members. You just can't post unless you are a member yourself. Yahoo is supposedly getting better on the spam - don't know myself. Just make sure you keep an email address private for yourself is probably the main thing. Pauline

I signed up and am now OhioSewhappie. Just a reminder for everyone. Once you open the site for Yahoo make sure that you save it to your "Favorties". You can then put a Icon fro ther onto your desktop so you can go to the site from that. For those who are "computer challenged" just ask and someone will help walk you thru how to do it. |

Vickki I just approved you. I know that the Yahoo group is hard to follow sometimes. I think it is more for groups or families to spread news not really for the kind of thing we do here but I just wanted to make sure that we could find everyone if a new site was started.I like Weny's site. I will check into threadstop more later. Right now I feel disloyal going somewhere else before this site closes. I know I am being silly but I just can't make myself do it. Barb

Barb, if it is all private except for members only now, would it be better to use the database section to keep track of who is/was who, and even an email address? I didn't like the idea of it when anyone could see it. I must admit, I don't like the overall layout of the yahoo groups, and can't wait to see what kaitlinn can organise. I guess I don't really want to share a board with other groups either. Geez I am selfish! Cheers, Soph.

Barb, a billion thanks to you. I realize it was a knee-jerk, " , what can I do right now" reaction for you to go to Yahoo. But I do find Yahoo difficult. I checked out Wendy's forum (and joined) and it looks very, very nice and also very similar to this one. Kaitlinnegan is also a very savvy girl so maybe between the two of them something perfect will arise. I'm just a little lamb. I just accepted all pending members. Lennie I also find Yahoo more difficult than the boards. I really like Wendy'd site & will visit there more when I get this house situation settled. I almost think it is harder to move people within the house than to move to a different house. I will try to take pictures of the progress tomorrow. I want to sew!!!! Maybe next week. Barb I will try to set up a data base tomorrow if my grandsons cooperate. 6Yo is trying to finish his library minutes to enter a drawing. It needs to be done by friday & he still needs 2 hrs. Not sure what you're talking about with the database but here is a list of people who haven't (at the time I looked so it's probably already out of date) joined at yahoo. If anybody has contact with these people we should probably point them to the group if they want to keep in touch. Sorry if I've missed anybody - I just went through the most prolific posting list and thought of a couple more (there's also a few here who aren't around as much these days). we still need Mary & how about Dave ( I like looking at his wooden creations). Jan is on vacation I PMed a few people & invited them I haven't heard from Motherinlaw or Bren & I am not sure who else we are missing. I opened a database. Anyone can add their own record to it. The catagories are name, email, location, SWN name. You can fill in as many fields as you are comfortable with leave any blank if you don't want to answer. Barb

Hi Barb, got your PM and sent you another one, gosh all this change is hard to cope with but I'm going to persevere and eventually I'll get there.
