I dug out a very old book, " The Sew/Fit Manual" which is close to 500 pages of pivot and slide techniques for almost any pattern alteration needed.

Here is a suggestion they offer:
"--Mature figures ---may have rounded stomach area and a flat seat. This figure problem is solved by reversing the slacks pattern pieces, using the front piece for the back and the back as the front"

Has anyone ever tried this??

Nope, but I did do that accidently once, and the pants fit terrible!!! I have Sandra Betzina's Fast Fit which gives suggestions for altering for a flat butt and rounded tummy. It's got good info in it for all sorts of alterations!
