Just finished these towels for my DD best friends wedding and they turned out so cute. You can't really see the colors, the towels are white, his shorts are tan and her dress is sage green. Saw the idea in a shop and thought, for the price they were asking I'll digitize my own and put in my own colors. Picked up the towels at Walmart for a great price. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v425/LauraBC/Sewing/?action=view¤t=Towels002.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v425/LauraBC/Sewing/?action=view¤t=Towels002.jpg) http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v425/LauraBC/Sewing/?action=view¤t=Towels002.jpg Laura

The towels look great and what a great job of digitizing you did. Such a non-traditional and fun design. If I may ask, what type of digitizing software do you use? |

Your towels are great! Could you give me some tips on how you embroider your towels, stabilizer, etc. It seems the thinner the font I use, it just disappears in the nap of the towel. Any suggestions? |

maddarner I use a layer of very fine tulle and a layer of water soluble stabilizer in the hoop, sticky spray on top of that (stick the towel down rather than hooping and also pin to hooped stabilizer around outer edges and then on top of the towels I use a layer of very fine tulle and a layer of water soluble stabilizer. After the stitching is finished, cut away the tulle around the design and use a wet Q-Tip to dissolve the stabilizer around the design on the top and the bottom. Pam or someone may have a better way of doing towels, but the above works for me. Patsy Patsy

The problem with the thinner font is that it will always disappear in the toweling. About the only way to prevent it is to use the tuille or use organza under the desgins (on top) to permanently keep the thin fonts from going into the towel. Just using a water soluable won't do it at all. I've never used tuille under my towel, I just use two layers of water soluble and spray adhesive. I've also learned through the years that a very small thing to insure that the towel doesn't move while you are doing your work is to use a machine basting stitch. If your machine doesn't have one, many of the machine sites do have them for download and many other sites also offer free downloads to fit most machines. I have found that machine basting and proper "hooping" of the stabilizer is by far the best way to guarantee the quality of any product. pam

Oh my! I have been over at Yahoo trying to make heads or tails out of everything and going through the over 100 new emails that I got today!! I have Embird MissTaraTara. I love it and the more I use it the more I like it. It was a learning experience though, but worth it. It has really helped to have a great machine which my adorable wonderful lovable husband let me buy!!! (and no, he's not reading this over my shoulder!) Maddarner. I used one layer of a heavier water soluble stabilizer on the bottom in the hoop, used 505 and attached the towel, then 505 again and put a lighter weight water soluble stabilizer on the top. I was smart (the great gals here taught me this) and I did a sample on an old towel to make sure it was going to work. I can't wait to give them to the couple and see their reaction!! Laura

They look fantastic Laura. The happy couple will be absolutely rapt I'm sure. I know what you mean about all the confusion of different things to read. It's times like this when it's only too easy for projects like this fall through the cracks which would be a shame. Pauline

Laura, those are so cute, I love them! You are so clever woman. One of these days, I'll get into the embroidery but I feel like I just don't have the time to devote to it right now to do it right. What will I do without this website when I finally get to it????? Jen |

Laura, your towels are so cute. At an embroidery seminar last week, Kathy Quinn, Floriani rep, told us to use double side sticky tape to hold towels down on the hoop instead of spray. Haven't tried it yet though. They will make a wonderful gift for the bride and groom. Marty |
