With the end fast approaching who's going to get the last word .....

This is not the sad and sentimental post - this is the elbow shoving, get out of my way bridesmaid catching the bouquet type last word.

So - who will it be?

Maybe if somebody is logged in all the time it won't be able to close.

I've stayed logged in now for awhile and everytime I come back to the computer and hit refresh I wonder what I'm going to see.

Remember years ago when the TV stations used to have the close of transmission for the day ....

I remember the tv stations signing off. They used to play the national anthem here. What did they do in Australia?

Same thing, I'd guess.

I remember babysitting for this one couple in particular. They'd never get home till 3 or 4 in the morning and I'd see that sign-off quite often. Luckily it was between naps on the couch. :re: Saw more good old movies babysitting for them though.

I can't stay away either today. Bittersweet, ain't it??

What did they do in Australia?

I'm too young to remember. :bg:

Actually I don't think I ever saw one as it closed. I remember seeing a test pattern (it was like a colour wheel but with the station logo built in) when they were closed although I'm not sure why.

I do have vague recollections of a screen announcement about end of transmission but I'm not even sure if it's accurate or maybe something I saw on a movie or within another TV show. I do know I've seen the US one on a TV show.

So at 8.20 am for me we are still on the air.

It is 10:49 PM here. Yup, this was my very favorite site. I will miss it, even with our wonderful new site.

In my younger days, when I babysat late at night, there weren't old movies on the weekends, just rock concerts. There was some guy that acted like a werewolf or something that was a host or something. What was his name...Wolfman Jack? I didn't really enjoy them, as I wanted a good old movie, but nothing scary!

I remember one night when I babysat there was a really bad storm, and the people's basement door opened out onto a narrow street. Someone actually broke into the basement while I was babysitting. I was scared to death, and didn't know what to do. That was way before 911. I didn't even know the phone number to the police department, which wasn't staffed overnight anyway. Fortunately, the person stayed in the basement, although I did hear them on the stairs.

I wonder if there's a special time or if it's arbitrary like when your phone gets switched on or off. Whenever the order gets there, etc? Monday through Friday business hours or cyberworld time?? Maybe tonight at midnight or tomorrow at 8 a.m. ??? Or maybe someone's sitting there reading all of this and messing with us?? :bg:

Should we place our bets?

A betting pool on who gets it closest timewise or a prize for the last word? It would need to be virtual so it's not like we're playing for sheep stations (Aussie slang - I think you guys would say "betting the farm").

What do we think?

I'm sure someone will come along behind me to have the last word or bet. I think this site will be gone just aftermidnight.

OK, this is weird. One hour ago this site didn't answer when I clicked on my bookmark.

Sheesh. I need to go back and file a false alarm report at SWU.

7:30 PM here.

Yeah, the site disappeared with an error message for me too yesterday in the morning first thing. I thought it was gone.

Okay, I'll bet my whole house that the site will no longer be here by 8 a.m. Monday morning, pst.

SewHappie I have been a leader at all levels & am now a lifetime member. DD is a Julliette(individual) now. she hasn't found a troop that fits her. The last troop she was in the girls didn't want to do anything but text message each other & talk about boys. They were all into a lot of sports & DD is more into school work & reading. Sometimes I miss the troop setting but not to often anymore.
It is 9:30 & I am still here
I did go give DS his hair cut.
Pauline now I am last for a few minutes.

Pam and Patsy - How did you weather the storm? Our house and DD's car both flooded with what i guess you would call a flash flood that went through our neighborhood around 4 a.m. Sunday. What a mess!! We have sucked gallons and gallons of water from our living room carpet and had to order a new back door - the water pushed it in to the point it is not repairable. But that will not stop me from meeting with you guys on Saturday!!

It was really loud here. Years ago, the neighborhood across the street built their roads up so that most of the first block and a half of water runs into our garage. My dad fought it for years. They had a small solution but it didn't stop bad rains. A years or so ago the county road crew made it worse so I complained (loudly) and got the county to help me with the run off. Sunday Morning was a bit of a test of that solution but it seemed to work. The garage stayed dry. For the most part, we are on a hill and it had not been a problem for decades until the neighborhood across the street was built. The worst part for me was deciding upon a safe route to church to avoid the flooded areas. Oddly, with all the problems on I-40 on the other side of town, it ended up being the safest way for me to get there. I imagine that a lot of people were using creative solutions to get around Sunday. We were really pretty lucky on our side of town, partly because we are hilly, not like the west and north sides where everything is really flat (poor people).

It sounds like you had your hands full at your house and down in Norman. Patsy may have been out of power as much of MWC was.

Mary, Thanks again for such a wonderful site. You must have put in tons of hours keeping it running. Thanks so much for keeping sewing alive in my life.

Well it's only 7.30 am for me so I guess all that leaves is a mimosa (champagne and oj). I dread to think of the mess we'll all leave behind by the time we're finished.

I can't believe this!!! Look what happens when I go and spend a hard day at work, I come home, and all h*** has broken loose!!! Now I have to play catchup, I have a brand new bottle of Zinfendel sitting here, no crackers or munchies for me, just the liquid kind. Darn, and I missed the dancing on the table.

Let's get this party started......!

I just got in from work and thought I'd check one more time, only to find out you started partying without me!

I'm munching on Hawaiin Luau BBQ chips --mmm, mmm, along with some sparkling water. Can I borrow someone's wine to add to my water?

Since we're out of lampshades, I grabbed a bed sheet so we can turn this into a toga party............... :bolt: :bg:

Well my vacume situation went from bad to worse. The reason I needed the vacume anyway is that dd has a new teddy bear that can't be washed and was giving her headaches. Last night we sent "Love" to the spa for her beauty treatment: baking soda rubbed into her fur. After letting her beauty treatment stay on her fur all night, I went to vacume her off, but the vacume wasn't picking up. I was able to get it working, only to have it suck up "Love's" little shirt. My serger tweezers weren't long enough to reach the shirt, so I put a unbent paperclip on the end of a dowel. I was finally able to pull the shirt out of the hose.
Whew. All for a silly teddy bear.

11:42 AM CST. Hot and dry weather in NW AL. My friend lives 40 mi. away in Huntsville and they are on voluntary water rationing (limited lawn watering).
I sat down to work on a boys shirt I started long ago for dgs Matthew. It may be to small when I finish it but It was a test garment for another shirt I will make. If this one is to small I will at least remember the construction technique and be able to see how much larger to make the next one. Funny thing is I cant find any sleeves cut out for it. Surely I cut them out! I am making this out of batiste. I thought it would be cool for summer, under a vest only now it is nearly fall:nc:

Hey if anyone needs some water I can send you LOTS!!!! It's a bit dirty, but it will work on your flowers and grass.
The basement is "s-l-o-w-l-y going down, the pump has been going for almost 48 hours now. Our town is on the cover of all the local newspapers. My brother in Indiana called and asked if that was my manhole spitting water in Barberton on the national news, told him most likely it was. All of the streams, lakes and rivers have gone over their banks here in town.
Where DH works the parking lot is under water, and I watched a Semi with water up past the tops of his wheels try and back the thing up to the loading docks.
Other than that it's 4:05P.M. EST and the site is still running and the lamps are on the floor minus the shades, there are no sheets on the beds and the garbage is full of empty bottles. What in the world have you ladies been up to?

I just can't help but feel a bit envious of all of the rain and even the flooding that all of you have had. I know how insane that sounds but in the third year of a serious draught in fire country water is a precious commodity. Amazing, isn't it, that with all technology as advanced as it is we still can't control the weather? I guess that is a good thing but gee whiz! How about a happy medium??

It's 1:56 pst.

I have been thinking the same thing as Lennie. As some of you bail water out :bluesad: , we have severe fires and need water so badly. We have at least 13 fires over 10,000 acres each burning in Montana. :nervous: One just a mile east of us, burned nearly a thousand acres. We didn't have to evacuate just because the wind was blowing the other way. Someone needs to get to work on that "happy medium" weather technology!

I was in the woods all day....Flies have devoured my legs, arms and head....Darn things I taught they were suppose to disappear after May.....Maybe I dreamt that...I was at my son"s Cabin working all day....We worked so hard outside because it was a beautiful day, however there's no happy mediums here...If it's warm the flies eat you and if its cold there's fear of frost-bite....(well maybe not in August)....Think I'll go back to the party.lol:Canada:

Are some of you thinking that this site will never close???

It's beginning to feel like a friend's in the middle of a 72 hour labor and that there's really no baby at all.

He,he,he,foo. He,he,he,foo. This is one long drawn out labor..................It's 10:30PM EST.

The Weather.............I'm surprised someone hasn't mentioned it yet........."Global Warming". I don't know if it's real or not, but I sure am getting tired of hearing about it 24/7. Can' we just be going thru a "happens every 25-30 years thing?"

Anyway, I smell smoke from somewhere outside, the fire trucks went up the street and my pump is still pumping.
I sure could use some Kahlua and Cream right about now!!!!

Hey, pass the lamp shade this way will you!!!!!

Good night Mary Ellen............

It was all a test and we've failed. We were supposed to collapse in despair and beg frantically to Mary not to close. Instead we wept and then (some of us anyway) went about finding us a new place to live. Maybe if we'd pleaded some more or something she might have listened and relented - now she's just torturing us by prolonging the agony. :bg: Oh well - time for another drink.

Oops - I drunk I might be think.

Mary seemed surprised yesterday that it was still here. I think it might have been her that started the party. I still think whoever is working as the server is enjoying reading all these post from some really crazy women. I hope we don't end up on Myspace somewhere!

Well, as long as the police come and tell us to hold it down we're probably fine. Do you think we are disturbing the neighbors?
