IDF stands for integrated dual feed. It is a feature that some of the Pfaff machines have. I have never really had an occasion to use it until this morning. It works great!!!

It is hooked to the back of my presser foot and works to feed both fabrics at the same time. The material is fed precisely so that my quilt blocks are lining up lickety split. All of a sudden everything is falling into place nicely. Everything matches up.

WAHOO!!!:bg:

Now Mary go back to a regular sewing machine and sew without the IDF. My poor Singer Quantum is very lonely on the corner of my sewing table.

Mary,
I experienced using that IDF on my sister's Pfaff Summer of 2001 when I was Volunteered (drafted) to "help" my sister make her 'mother of the bride' outfit for her Daughter's wedding.. My sis had bought a beautiful charmeuse-like fabric for shell and long skirt, and embroidered silk organza for jacket to go with it.. (plain silk organza for jacket lining) The embroidered fabric was $36.00 a yard, even at MaryJos.. I made the jacket on her Pfaff using that IDF feature of course, on all those french seams... 4 front pieces and 3 back pieces, plus the sleeves... It turned out to be so BEAUTIFUL... (I'm about to break my arm, patting myself on the back ! ! ) I was scared to death to tackle that fabric..My Sister had an outfit that was absolutely gorgeous and she gave me credit for it . I learned my lesson, though.. Next time I will say ' I will help if I can approve the pattern beforehand'. I learned my lesson..(again) That is why I do not sew for profit... I like choosing my own punishment or pleasure, as the case may be..
But , the bottom line is, I could not have done it without the IDF on her machine..  :USA:
