I would love some advice about industrial machines. I'm looking for one that can handle webbing and cordura and is simple (no zig-zag) and it doesn't necessarily need a walking foot. I've heard that most Japanese and German brands are good. What's been the experience with you guys?

thanks,

Nedra

Hi Nedra,
I have 5 Industrial Machines at my shop and they are used every day. 4 of them are Singers and one is a Rex. All of them are good. We sew all kinds of stuff on them. They will sew leather or anything. The older machines seem to do better on heavier things. I don't know why. I got 2 of them at a local dealer that has used machines he sales. I am very pleased with them. Juki is also an excellent machine. All of mine are straight stitch only. Once you get used to an industrial you will never want to sew on anything else. Yesterday we repaired a boat cover. We even put zippers in luggage. Please post when you decide. I'd like to know how it goes.
Good Luck!!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I also sew things as lightweight as chiffon on them.

I found a great deal on a JUKI (about 20 years old) in the paper and now I just need to set it up. I'm really excited to see how much faster I can sew things! I'll definitely share more once I get the hang of it.

I haven't been on for a while. Glad to see you found a machine. Are you set up yet? Can't wait to see what you think. I think you'll really be pleased. Post soon and let us know.

I have set it up! I had to order thicker, stronger nylon thread, so I'm waiting for it to come in. I do have one question though. Could you tell me what's the best way to thread the bobbin when you're aren't sewing? I know that I will have a hard time remembering to have the bobbin run while I sew. Do you know what I mean?

Thanks a lot!!!
