Sew What’s Up Presents

The Sew What’s New Archive

This archived content is from Mary Wilkins’ sewing and quilting message board “Sew What’s New,” which was retired in August 2007. It is being provided by “Sew What’s Up,” which serves as the new home for many members of “Sew What’s New.”

Most websites such as this don't allow commercial sites to be posted, yet today someone has spammed most of the boards with an ad for their product and this is not the first time this has happened. The ads usually seem to be left up, is that the policy here? I, for one, find it annoying to have a mutual support forum used in this way. How do you all feel about this?

This is not the policy here. The site owner will be back today from out of town and it will be removed.

Anytime you see the boards being spammed, click on the "report post" link and that notifies us. Mom was away for a few days but she's back now.

Thanks, I didn't know if that was the policy and have seen other posts left up in the past. Now that I know I will happily rat out those taking advantage.

Found it!

Ladies, in future, please do not hesitate to let me know if someone is advertising or if a post is unsuitable for our boards. I do allow people to post their products on the Fabric/Machines For Sale board ONLY.

I am not around to watch every single post. Some do slip by and when I am away like I have been these past few days, it always seems to happen. Long weekends are another time when everyone thinks it is a good time to advertise.

I do NOT allow advertising or direct selling of any kind on this site, these boards are for us to discuss whatever, not for people to post selling things. If this happens, it is only a matter of time before it is deleted and the guilty party is contacted.

We need to protect our site from this sort of thing.
