:Canada: Hello Everyone.

Well my new machine is having a little problem. Would anyone know how to stop the top thread from looping up in decorative stitch mode and straight sewing? I have adjusted tensions, replaced needles, tried different needles. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

You should contact Jim Stutsman at <email address removed for privacy>

Hi: I actually contacted Jim first. That's a great site and I love the YahooGroups. I have a full binder of information on the 10000.

Thanks anyways.

Are you still having the problem? What do you mean by the bobbin thread looping up - is the bobbin thread making loopies of thread on the underside of your sewing?

Hi: No, the top thread is looping up on top of the fabric. Its quite a mystery. And this is happening every few stitches. Its not consistent. Any suggestions?

Hi Bobbins, you said earlier this is a new machine...has it always done this? Re-check how you have it thread, sometimes if the needle becomes un-thread then the thread jumps out of one of the thread paths. Also, when you thread the machine, it sometimes help to hold one end slightly taut while you lead the thread through the path. I think you've already adjusted the top tension, one increment at a time, and haven't seen any difference. Are you holding the thread tails when you start a seam - some are very particular about this. Is your presser foot pressure too loose? Are you certain you have put the bobbin in correctly, winding clockwise or counter-clockwise as requird, and that you have put the bobbin thread where its supposed to be before your pick it up with the needle? Is there any way you could have loosened the bobbin tension and not returned it to its normal position? If you've done all this, and made sure you have the correct needle for the type of thread and fabric, then it may just be that your machine needs to go back to be checked by the dealer, could be a factory fault.

Hi Penny:

Thanks for your reply. Most of the things you mentioned I have done...but I didn't think of the bobbin tension. Yes this is a new machine...only had it two months.

Well let you know what happens.

Thanks again

Well, thought I would let you know that my machine is going back to Toronto to the company for fixing. My dealer has had it twice in the past week and has done his best but it has more problems than ever. The top thread is still looping, the stitches are uneven and messy, and the top thread is getting caught on the bobbin case. Hopefully, it will come back from Toronto AOK. I'm lost without my machine. :bg: Glad I don't have to take it myself to Toronto with the SARS scare going on. :whacky: Toronto is about 5 hours from here.

Hoppy Easter everyone!

Hi Bobbins,
I hope your machine has a good trip, and comes back ready to work.

By the way, I'm in Richmond Hill, a town just north of Toronto - not quite a suburb. We're pretty tired of all the SARS news. I have distant family that live in Cornwall.

Maybe you should disinfect your machine when it gets home, lol.

Have a happy Easter,

Penny

Hi Penny: would you believe that I am originally from Hamilton, and will be driving through (around) TO on the 407 tomorrow. My daughter is coming home from University (Waterloo) so I decided to make a week of it and see my family at the same time.

Small world isn't it! :bluewink:

Also, I bought masks just in case I have to stop in or around TO.
Just a precaution - so I was told by my Pharmicist. It will be nice when they can put this SARS to bed. :whacky:

Thanks for all your help. Happy Easter to you and your family.
