I went back to work on Monday, as I've been off with my feet, I feel like I'm in another world, It's darn scary , I have to fill out a paper disenfect my hands before I can even get in the door's, Then when I get to my area, e.r. I have to put a mask on disenfect my hands again, work all day with a mask on, I can hardly breath in those mask's. Who would have ever thought, we would be working under such conditions. I sure am glad when the day is over Plus!!! we all look like a bunch of duck's LOL Bren:

Bren, this SARS is very scarey, isn't it? My doctor has a notice on his door, do not enter this office if you have been to a Toronto area hospital, visited certain countries in Asia or been around SARS patients or think you may have come in contact with the virus. My SIL types for hospitals and she is twiddling her thumbs until this is over. There are no reports and no clinics will open up yet. MaryW

You know I don't think in the states you can turn away a patient. Correct me if I'm wrong here. I THINK everyone is intitiled to medical treatment and they can't be refused for any reason. I'm not sure on that but it seems to me that I heard that somewhere. This stuff is scary. Hope all of you stay safe. Susie |

We are not denied treatment, we are supposed to call a certain number and they will advise on what to do.

I understand, Mary. I read in this morning's paper that they found out what causes the virus and now they are trying to find a cure. I hope it's not like the aids virus where they can't find a cure. Isn't that scary? This one is air born. At least with aids you have to come in contact with body fluids. The US has had around 200 cases here too. Very scary stuff. Susie |

Very scary stuff indeed. We should be praying very hard that this does not run rampant throughout the world. Miracle drugs cannot cure everything!

I'm in California--there is a notice at the clinic I go to. If you have a cough ask for a mask. |

Here is an extract from today's paper: "For Dr Bekedam (WHO), the only reassuring thing about the SARS epidemic is that the virus does not spread so easily, and that so far there are only about 3000 cases reported worldwide. "If this had been influenza we would have been talking globally about 1 or 2 million cases," he said. "We hope this will be a wake-up call for China and ... for the whole world, to be ready for the big epidemic that one day will come." Our company (Computer Support) has an office in Hong Kong and the team there sent us a photo of 12 of them in masks, they looked like aliens! I have a girlfriend in that office, I said to her she should find something to do back in Sydney's office for a month or more! Scary! |
