Hi everyone. In order for the site to stay online, useful and moving towards the future, I need your help.

In the past few months, the site has gone thru some major changes and upheaval. The one you are most familiar with is the new boards. I know some do not like them, others are fine with the changes. It proved to be, in the end, a step in the right direction for future plans.

Now I need your suggestions for improving the site itself.
Do you want to see:

More content on sewing
More content on quilting
More lessons in sewing
More lessons in quilting

What is it you feel to make our site a more complete sewing/quilting site. Please be honest in your responses.

Maybe we just need to take everything a step further, rather than focus on beginner knowledge. Let me know. Thanks, I know I can count on you all to give me suggestions.

Mary when I came to this site I was green as grass. I didn't know a lot about machine embroidery. Since then I have come to make lots of new friends and have learned not only the basic techniques of every aspect of sewing but also percious tips I would have never learned on my own. I'm into quilting sewing and embroidering and I think most of us are better in one or the other most are interested in more than one. I am a better garment constructor than a quilter but I'd love to learn how to properly make a nice quilt and I think most people like more than just one thing.

Maybe you can mix up lessons and content on everything. I love the boards because you have so many inputs into different subjects and everybody gains that way. I also like the galleries because you can see finished projects and get ideas from them.

No matter what you do I'm sure it will be great, your site has been great up to now and I see no reason some changes for the better won't make a difference to your loyal members.

My 2 cents

Hey Mary,

Personally I love the site, especially the boards. But I like the articles and projects too. I can't tell you how many people I have pointed to this site for begginer advice on the who's, what's, where's and just plain HELP for getting started.

I would love to see More Sewing/Quilting related Content/Articles and more Projects WITH PICTURES please, I'm very visual, and trying to follow some of the project articles with no graphics can be frustrating...

Some more advanced sewing/quilting lessons would be great, just don't loose the begginer stuff...

Did I help at all? :re:

Really Mary, I love the site and I'm looking forward to seeing lots more stuff...

Actually, I think it would be nice to have regular scheduled chats back. However, I know everyone's time is limited so that might not be a feasbile thing and all of the time zones make it a little difficult also. Just a thought though.

Mary, the boards are great. You do a fantastic job with them.

Mary, this site has improved greatly even since I joined in February. Thank you.
I have learned a lot about all sorts of things. Sewing for me was something I did occasionally, now I feel I want to do it all the time and I know where to come for help, all, thanks to this site. I don’t go to any other sites, just don’t have the time or the inclination, as I get all I need here. I will learn quilting when I retire.
To have more graphics or pictures would be useful, as sometimes, it is very difficult to imagine what people are talking about, especially if one is a newbie! But may be it’s just me...

I would also like to see a bigger section on alterations, I always ‘fiddle’ with my clothes. But what you already have here is great, as I never knew about the proper fitting or the pattern adjustment before, so when I made something from the pattern, it was not pretty to look at!!!

Another area I am interested in, is making patterns, like the ‘major’ or ‘main’ pattern with my proper measurements, that I can use to create others. Not sure of the proper name for it, but I know something like that exists.

This is a great site, Mary, thank you for all your hard work!

Mary, you know I LOVE these boards.:bluesmile Even my kids know SWN is the best site on the net. :nah: It's the only one I visit on a regular basis. Sew Whats New is a household name in my house.

One thing I do search other sites for sometimes is free patterns. I know you have lots of great project ideas here, but I would love to see more (pictures are nice too). I loved the one you did last year when you made the new shower curtain for your guest bath. More home dec. projects would be wonderful. :bluesmile
And of course quilt projects too.

I know they give you the yardage, cutting instructions and sewing info. And then you go to town and see what you come up with..you can do a wall hanging or full size quilt..I have only done the quilt.

Mary, I think you do a super job with the site. Heck, even my married daughters favorite words are "Sew Whats New? " Anyways I love the site and have learned so much, we can always come to the boards with what we think are dumb questions and find a friendly answer. We can laugh, even cry, with our new cyber friends. Carman does a wonderful job with the swaps. Only thing I would like to see are more pictures and maybe more free patterns...Keep up the great work!!:bg: :bg: :bg:

Mary,

I do love this site -- for all of the reasons already stated. It is really hard to think of improvements, because you do such a great job.

What would I like more of?
Projects with directions
New or simpler ways of doing things
What is new on the market
Ideas for home dec.

I guess you could say that I would like anything more you can come up with.

But above all, keep up with the greatwork! And thank you for it.

Mary,
I always wake up in the morning, get my coffee and a cigarette, Yes I smoke, and would love to quit, but its pretty damm hard, and see what is happening on the site. I love it and missed it terribly when you were down. It is a part of my day. I am always learning even though I have quilted for 18 yrs. I still feel like a beginner because there is lots of talent around this site. Love it totally.
