Went away on the weekend with hubby and youngest...On Thursday night, I just about finished the first dress for her it is an Easy one- McCalls 2569, a good one for getting back into it. The only problems, unforeseen is that # 1, I was sold the wrong kind of interfacing :nc: , and had to recut the facing, and resew that part. I ended up not using an interfacing, and I topstitched, the whole thing, to reinforce it. She loves wearing dresses, but is not a girly-girl, so the top-stitching is the only way to go with her. My other problem is that after I got it all done, except the hemming, she tried it on and HATED the halter style of straps on the back on her neck. So I configured a Y shaped yolk for the back to button the straps to. The fabric is a poly cotton blend, red, in a bandana type pattern. She loves it and it is so cute. Am making a matching scrunchy for it.

My older daughter is so impressed we bought a boxer short pattern today, and flannel happy face material so she can learn to sew.
