I really want a free arm serger. A Janome one that i really want is in the 700 price range. Little out of it right now but I have an offer to get a 929D for 80 or a 1034D for 110.00 both brother machines. They are both 3/4 threads and free arm other then that I dont know. Does anyone have these machines and how good are they. thanks
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

A couple of ladies on my diaper group have the 1034D. They say it is actually very nice, but it will not take 4 layers of fleece hemp; which I don't think is a big deal cuz hemp fleece is EXTREMELY thick anyhoo and my White 2000 wont do 4 layers of it either! It should be an OK machine to keep you going until you can get what you really want.

If they are used, just make sure they were serviced recently!!

hi aimee,
the 929 and the 1034 are virtually identical machines, the 1034 is the more modern version. here in the uk it comes with 3 extra feet(piping, gathering and blind hem), whereas the 929 only came with 2 (piping and gathering).
i like the 1034, it's a nice smooth ride lol

I bought one just this week and I find it easy to use and the cd rom that comes with it is a wonderful aid. I threaded the serger the first time with no problems and the cd rom manual says that it is the same as the 929.

Hope you like your serger as much as I like mine.....
