Hello! I just found this site today by accident and I am thrilled! My question has to do with a particular brand/model of serger. I talked my husband into buying a serger for me for Christmas. Kenmore's model 791BD had a good price and seems to have all the basic bells and whistles. The machine has been ordered and won't make it here in time for Santa to bring it but I would like to know if anyone has used one and if they are satisfied. I am delighted to have found this site. My two children have left the nest--one married and one in college--and I find myself in need of activities to fill the evening hours when my DH is watching sports or WWII movies which I can't stand. I haven't sewn in years but I have decided to rekindle my interest. Adding a serger was something I always wanted to do to speed up finishing seams. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks! I don't have the Kenmore, however, all I have ever heard about Kenmore machines has been wonderful..... how exciting for you!!! I love this web page also. This group of people have given me so much encouragement that I more or less taught myself to sew with their help. Happy Holidays!!!

I can tell you your machine is made by Janome for Sears, as are most of Sears sewing machines..Janome is a wonderful brand I have 2 myself...an MC10000 and a Compulock serger. They're easy to use and will last for years... If you want/need the specs for your machine www.sears.com type in your machine number in the search box. Chrys

Hi Linda Marie, I don't have that exact model, but I do have a Kenmore 3/4 serger with differential feed and electronic foot contol. It is wonderful! I've had mine for about six or seven years. I confess that I was intimidated by my serger and didn't take it out of the box for a long time after I got it...what a waste! So, don't do that!!! When you get your serger, dive right in! You will be very excited with the possibilities of your new toy. Take care,

My husband got mine for me one Christmas. I was so excited. I had just made myself a housecoat and I took it off and serged all the seams. LOL.

Thank you all for the responses. I feel so much more confident we made the right choice. I can hardly wait. I have fabric piling up everywhere and I am ready to get to work.
