Hi all, I don’t come around much, but I still hope you will welcome me.
I recently received $150 to Joann Fabric and I’ve decided to use it towards a serger. I would appreciate any recommendations from anyone who has purchase a serger from Joann Fabric.

I also have a question. One serger I’m interested in doesn’t have a cover stitch. Is this important? Does anyone have a picture they can show me of what a cover stitch is?

I’ve searched all over the internet and can’t find anything on cover stitching.

Thanks!
Jessica

http://www.abco.cz/pdf/Cover%20Stitch.pdf

Scroll down on the page at the above link and you will see some examples of cover stitch.

You can simulate the look of a cover stitch by using a twin needle on your sewing machine. The top will look like two rows of straight stitching, and the bottom will show the bobbin thread zigzagging between the two needles. Not exactly like the serger cover stitch, but close enough.
Take care,
Donna

You can also look at the bottom of your t-shirts (if you wear them) most, if not all t-shirts these days come with a hem thats a cover stitch.
