I was in at out local Chapters book store checking out sewing books and found a book called Serger Secrets. Did a fast look thru a couple or five times and decided I really needed this book to motivate me to actually try something different than just finish seams. Now I have to find some extra time, perferably with no one around, to justify buying this book. There is some really good ideas and gives the settings ect. Well at least it's a place to start!
Just wondering, when you ladies buy books in the U.S.A do they have canadian prices on them as well as american? That's one thing that really, really gets me. Michael's Craft store here in town has the same thing on their stock as well and I always feel like I'm getting punished for being Canadian.

All books sold here in the U.S. no matter what type have Canadian and U.S. prices printed, as do magazines. I don't think it has anything to do with punishment, but dollar conversion.
Our dollar is worth less now than the Canadian dollar. You also have to take into account import costs. If they aren't published there, then they're published here and imported to Canada.
Book prices have risen steadily for many years now. ( I own between 3000-5000 books..I haven't counted in many years and I also trade with my sister, who keeps some and trades for other used books)

The import cost is not the only reason. Canadians make a higher pay scale then we Americans do. For instance, if you are a nurse, in the US you might make 10.00 an hour, in Canada for the same position you would make 13.00 or 14.00 an hour. The cost of living is adjusted. Same thing in California. Our cost of living in Louisiana is lower than in California. It all evens out don't feel so bad. I use to feel bad when I heard someone made 15.00 an hour for a reception job in California and we only get around 7.00 here. But..................an apartment cost 1500.00 a month there and here it cost 400.00. So there you go.

Actually, it is the other way around. The American dollar has more value than the Canadian dollar.
Take care,
