Hi folks,

I have never used a serger before, and know not much about them. I understand the risks of purchasing online without a service plan or lessons.

That said, does anybody have experience with the Consew 14TU5432 serger?

It looks like it has all the stitches one would need, including a cover stitch. Here is the link:

:pc: There is not much about them online, I tried a google seach. Seems like a good price for a 5432 serger with cover stitch, but again I have no experinece with sergers so I can't tell!:re:

Most sergers with the features described sell for around $1200 and up. I would be suspicious of the low price and wonder if it were damaged goods (perhaps flood or fire). There's no way to tell unless you buy the machine or it's a seller that you can trust thoroughly. Would you be able to get replacement parts for it? Why is the owner selling it for such a low, low price? Is there a manual or instructions for use? Is this a dealer trying to empty one's inventory excess. What type of guarantees are being offered? Is this perhaps stolen merchandise? These are the types of questions that come to my mind when the price is "too good to be true". Since I don't regularly shop on ebay, I don't know how one gets the answers to the questions. In this case, my instincts say "Buyer Beware".

Hi Marty;

The seller is selling a bunch of these, along with a bunch of Consew model 14tu which is a 3/4 serger. I found the 14tu online for about $100 above ebay price new. The seller answers email, says it is new in box with manual, and a 90 day manufacturer guarantee. Consew is in New York, which is (relatively) close to me; I am in Massachusetts. His feedback is 100% good.

I was just wondering if the machine (14tu5432) would sew a decent stitch. I know the Gemsey's on eBay are selling really cheaply, but google searches tell me they aren't worth the money at all. The Consew 14tu5432 doesn't show up much on Google.

Consew seems to be an industrial sewing machine company, so I might put my trust in their home model serger. I think I will call the company headquarters in NY to see if they answer the phone!! :smile:
