PHILOSOPHY On HOUSECLEANING!

I don't do windows because... I love birds and don't want one to run into a clean window and get hurt.

I don't wax floors because... I am terrified a guest will slip, hurt themselves, I'll feel terrible and they may sue me.

I don't mind the dust bunnies because... They are very good company, I have named most of them, and they agree with everything I say.

I don't disturb cobwebs because... I want every creature to have a home of their own.

I don't Spring Clean because... I love all the seasons and don't want the others to get jealous.

I don't pull weeds in the garden because... I don't want to get in God's way, he is an excellent designer.

I don't put things away because... My husband will never be able to find them again.

I don't do gourmet meals when I entertain because... I don't want my guests to stress out over what to make when they invite me over for dinner.

I don't iron because... I choose to believe them when they say "Permanent Press".

I don't stress much on anything because... "A Type" personalities die young and I want to stick around and become a wrinkled up crusty ol' woman!!!!
I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

They all sound like good and plausible excuses to me. :bg: But then on the other hand my only excuse is "I don't want to."

Very good.
I gave up housework a few years ago when my life was so hectic I had to give up something and that seemed like a reasonable choice. But I still didn't have enough sewing time so I gave up my job too. Now I have enough time to sew.

I don't do housework because 5 minutes after I'm done it will look like I haven't done anything for weeks. That's what happens with 4 teenagers & 2 grandsons in the house not to mention my DH.

I have done housework for 37+ yrs. It's boring, but I still do it. It drives me crazy when it's too dirty, when it crosses the line. When i can see dust bunnies, it grosses me out! :nervous:

Hate to tell you ladies this but I don't do much housework because hubby does most of it - including laundry. I may dust a bit and I clean the bathrooms and that's about it. I know I'm spoiled but on the flip side, he doesn't cook...at all. When we got married 16 years ago, he said "If you cook, I'll clean" and boy did I take him up on that fast. I like to think we have an "equal opportunity marriage".

Same here. I cook, he cleans. I do laundry, he irons. (I wouldn't trust him to do the laundry...sometimes he does and something almost always shrinks or I end up with a pink load.) I do light house cleaning he does the heavy stuff, including floors.

I do most of it, even though DH thinks he believes in sharing equally. He was never taught how and pays little attention to the condition of the house. He thinks about what to eat when he's hungry, never meal plans unless he makes his special dish for company.

When it became feasible for us to live on one income I retired to stay home with the kids and officially be the homemaker. I do have a button on my apron (gift from a friend) that says "A clean house is a sign of a wasted life". There are lots of times when I have to interrupt sewing to do a quick vacuum and throw together dinner.

* Everything hurts and what doesn't hurt, doesn't work.

* You feel like the morning after, and you didn't go anywhere the night before.

* Your knees buckle and your belt won't.

* You can burn the midnight oil only until 9PM.

* The twinkle in your eyes is the sun hitting your bifocals.

* Your back goes out more often than you do.

After marriage, DH told me: "I'll do anything for you ecxept two things: cooking and ironing". And he kept his word :bluesmile but he does the laundry and shopping and is very gifted for those, I must say :bluesmile
