Barbara Walters of 20/20 did a story on gender roles in Kabul several years before the Afghan conflict. She noted that women customarily walked about 5 paces behind their husbands.
She returned to Kabul recently and observed that women still walk behind their husbands, but now seem to walk even further back and are happy with the old custom.
Ms. Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked, "Why do you now seem happy with the old custom that you used to try and change?"
"Land mines," said the woman.

MORAL: BEHIND EVERY MAN IS A SMART WOMAN

Subject: Poker Game

Six retired Floridians were playing poker in the condo clubhouse when
Frank Jones loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest and drops dead at
the table. Showing respect for their fallen comrade, the other five
continue playing standing up.

Harry looks around and asks, "So, who's gonna' tell his wife?"
They draw straws. Eddie Smith picks the short one. They tell him to be
discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse.

"Discreet? I'm the most discreet person you'll ever meet. Discretion is
my middle name, leave it to me."

Eddie goes over to Frank Jones' apartment and knocks on the door.
The wife answers and asks what he wants.

Eddie declares : "Your husband just lost $500, and is afraid to come
home."

"Tell him to drop dead!" says the wife.

"I'll go tell him." says Eddie.
