Hello, I am having a problem with my White 2000 ATS serger. A couple of weeks ago, it became unable to cut properly. I thought that the blade needed to be replaced, so I got a new one, but it still doesn't work. I don't know what the problem is? Could it be the fixed blade? If it is the fixed blade is there anything I can do about it... Thanks |

I really don't know of any serger where both blades cannot be replaced. They also have to be aligned just so. Sometimes if you go to a dealer to buy a blade they will replace it for you at no charge. |

Have you tried changing your stitch width and are you using the proper stitch finger for the stitch? |

My serger also has a fixed lower blade.. It is a companion 20/40 and it is at least 14 or 15 years old..I have replaced the upper one twice , I think, but the fixed blade is still doing its job.. I believe the upper one keeps it sharp..

Is the fabric too thick for your serger?

Hi mjkr, Welcome to the SWN discussion boards! Could it be that your serger knife has some lint caught around it? Take care,

[QUOTE=mjkr]Hello, I am having a problem with my White 2000 ATS serger. A couple of weeks ago, it became unable to cut properly... I have the same problem with mine - same machine - I am disappointed, since it happened within a couple of weeks of using it. I bought it online at a good price, and am afraid what it will cost at the local repair place to have a look-see. It's noisy, too - I might trade it - pain to re-thread, too - you MUST do it in sequence (and I do it many times over) - my old Toyota was better. (It died.) I am also interested in suggestions - the thread & tensions have been fooled with, and I am convinced it is not that or the blade replacement issues - I think it's the design. Any other machine purchase suggestions? Anyone wanna buy a 2000? May God Bless you!

I hope I am speaking of the same machine. I bought mine over a year ago, but did not use it much. Then last year I started and by december is was making aloud noise. I thought mine was the blade as well. But upon examining it closer, I found out it was the back throat plate. One of the little teeth broke off that forms the stitch) It is going to cost me 60.00 to replace it at the viking shop. I used it about 3 months straight even though I had it earlier in the year. I sure hope I do not have to replace it every three months or I will be using it for only light weight fabrics for sure.. (I use it for fleece and flannel. It broke with the flannel go figure.. Serenity (threads_40) "The struggle is not greater than the goal". Be blessed. Stay encouraged.

One rarely hears of a serger that actually breaks..but I have to say that in the past few months on many sewing sites I have seen much about the White 2000. White used to have a very highly rated serger. I wonder what has happened with the model 2000. You can see the same complaints over and over again. I would assume with so many of the same complaints White would recall this model. |

I have a White but a different model (thank goodness I guess) and the book -- I'm new to serging and just read it (twice) -- said the fixed blade might need to be changed occasionally. Dorothy |
