I'm in the market for a new serger, wondering how necessary those of you who use your sergers regularly think a free arm is.... thanks... MO life is too short, not to explore

I do use my freearm on my Husq 936 for serging narrower tubes (sleeves etc) but you can get away without it too, I wouldn't search for this feature.
