Try tightening the needle tension.
Take care,

Hey, I am having the exact same difficulty with my Singer (model # 14SH654) on basic cotton fabric. I have adjusted tensions to no avail. Both needles are brand new, I BELIEVE the machine is threaded correctly, yet I too, am getting the little stitchs horizontally across the seam line. They almost appear as "railroad ties". Any other ideas? Thanks, Joni |

Check to be sure that your threads are fully seated in the tension discs. I have a Singer 14U555 5 thread and most usually when my tension is screwy it is because I haven't taken the time to be sure the threads are properly seated in the tension discs. Also, be sure that all of your settings for stitch length and width are set as well. My serger has a switch that you pull forward for rolled hems and back to the S for regular serging. If it is set for a rolled hem, the tenions will all be off for regular serging. Hope this helps. Patsy Patsy

Those little lines like railroad ties are usually on one side of the fabric when doing a flatlock stitch. Possibly you have your serger settings set up to do a flatlock stitch. When flatlocking the stitches usually fall over to the right side of the material. Maybe increase your stitch length, increase rt needle tension decrease lower looper tension. You might also try to take a wider cut off the fabric edge. Something also that seems to help with stitching problems is to make sure that your thread guide hanger or tower is pulled up all the way as far as it will go. |
