Obedient Wife There was a man who had worked all of his life, had saved all of his money, and was a real miser when it came to his money. Just before he died, he said to his wife, "When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the after-life with me." And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him. Well, he died. He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said, "Wait just a minute!" She had a box with her; she came over with the box and put it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and they rolled it away. So her friend said, "Girl, I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there with your husband." The loyal wife replied," Listen, I'm a Christian; I can't go back on my word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him." "You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!!!!?" "I sure did," said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my account and wrote him a check. If he can cash it, he can spend |

I don't have to worry about doing that to my man, I spend it all while he's here he won't have any left when it's time to go. |

oklahomanana, I got that covered too. I got all the granddaughters sewing machines for their 11th birthdays and they will fight over my stash!!!!!!!!! They are staking claim to it now. I was worried about the little bit of jewerly I have how I was going to divide it up with having so many girls, 5 as it stands now, but I didn't think about them hitting my stash. I'll have to do like my poor Mother did and have a lottery and let them draw numbers for it all. Hey, It worked for her. |

You got the granddaughters machines on their 11th birthdays? WOW. I was not put in front of a machine until I was a freshman in high school! God bless you for being so mindful of them and thinking ahead for them as well! May I ask did you go stricly basic for them? What brand are they too?

I also gave my granddaughters a sewing machine when they were young, but I only have two gr-dtrs. I had given them sewing lessons at age 10, and they both took to sewing quickly. They are in their 20's now, and still sew when they get time. |

Nana, I had all boys so it's a real treat to have that many girls. Only thing is I was queen of the castle until they came around and now I have 5 queens. LOL ejhuds and Nana, I bought them all Brother basic machines from WalMart. They have zig zag and a few basic feet and stitches like blindhem and such. They are good machines not like some of the lower price ones. They cost around 70 - 90 dollars. They do well with the threading and all, only thing is I have to oil and clean them we haven't gotten to that part yet. I have one to buy in May and that makes 3 and my grandson wants one also for his 12th birthday and his Dad said it was fine with him so that's what he's getting. He even goes with me to my sew club meeting and get all into the instruction part of it. Keep the kids doing something creative and fun all the while making them more confident in theirselves. Pump up that ego. LOL |

You are such a good grandmother! I will have to follow your leadership in doing that with my gkids someday. They live all so far away, hopefully we can still make it happen someway. While at the hospital today in my Quilt book I read a tip from someone that said when she is teaching her gkids to sew she places a sponge in between the foot pedal and the bottom part so they cannot sew fast! I thought this was an excellent tip~
