I am about to buy my very first serger ever. I am looking at 3 different models: the Brother 1034D, the Simplicity 390 and the Simplicity SW432. I am aware that Brother makes the Simplicity and these 3 machines basically do the all the same things. These are the ones that appealed to me and were in my price range.

I would like to know if any of you have had any experience with any of these machines and would you please share your opinion. I have never used a serger before, but these seem to fit what I think I might want. :nc: :nc: :nc:

Thanks for any help you can give.

I did alot of obsessive research on sergers before I made up my mind on the one to get. Out of the lower priced models, the Brother 1034D seemed to get better reviews than the Simplicity ever recieved. However, after reviewing the New Home 504D knowing it's made by Janome, that would have been my choice of sergers in that price range. If you talk to Kevin at Kenssewingcenter.com they treat you real nice. One very experienced sewer on this forum had the 504D and she said it was great except she had to oil it more often, but that happens anyway... I'd go with New Home for that price range, BUT if you want to spend a tad bit more, go for the Janome 634D instead. That serger received the best reviews time and time again over the White ATS 2000 and others in that price range (300-350). If I didn't have my local dealer talk me into a layaway on a Pfaff 4852 I would have bought the Janome 634D. You might be able to get Kevin to go down alittle on the price..call and see....
