Hello All,

I've recently purchased a used Babylock Imagine serger on eBay without making sure that the warranty would be included. I had been searching for this model for quite some time and jumped at the chance when I saw this serger for $750.00 on eBay. Consequently, the serger I bought doesn't come with the original warranty. Was this a HUGE mistake on my part? Will I be okay without a warranty? The seller claims that the serger was recently cleaned and tuned by the dealer and is in great condition... :nervous:

Unless I am mistaken the warranty can't be transferred to you. But if the machine has been cared for I don't think you will have any problems with it. Mine is almost 5 years old now and has never had a problem and I too bought it off the net so to speak and taught myself to use it 5 minutes out of the box. They are simple to use, sturdy and have great stitching all the time, so much nicer than having to constanly adjust tension on my mid line Pfaff, I never could get a decent stitch out of that one and it still sits in the box with all the attachments I bought for it. If the seller had good feedback on previous EBAY dealings I would feel a little less apprehensive. Hope this eases your mind a little.

Hello Mattie,

I read on the Babylock website that the warranty only applies to the original purchaser when new. Also, no authorized dealer is allowed to sell through the internet or mail. So, I now feel a bit more confident with my purchase.

The fact that you've been through a similar ordeal also makes me feel more relaxed. The seller has sold quite a number of sewing machines and sergers with glowing feedback so I'm confident that the machine is legitimate.

This is my first serger so I am very excited! "^_^"

Thank you!

Pixie,
Lucky you to get the Imagine as a first serger, the simplicity of it's use will amaze you. My first machine was a low level Pfaff that was great, I had heard all the threading horror stories and was apprehensive but that machine was great. I wanted to sew heavier stuff than what I normally was doing but unfortunately that machine couldn't handle it so hubby traded up to another model Pfaff and that was the machine from H___! Turned me off serging completely! I kept reading about the Imagine and finally ordered one from a dealer off the internet sight unseen. I had it delivered to my job and had it out of the box and serging perfectly in 5 minutes, I haven't looked back since. Hubby got me the Evolve for the cover stitch 3 years ago and that too is a dream. He got me a new sewing machine last year and based on the trouble frre years with these Babylock sergers I picked the new Ellegante as my new machine and expect it to perform the same. So far it does!

Pixie, Sorry I didn't get to read the board yesterdau but hope you are up and running with your new Imagine already. I remember when mine got delivered, I was serging everything in sight for a few days until I got over how easy it was compared to the other sergers I had used. Still after having it a few years I still look for things to use it on because it is soooo user friendly. Let me know if you have any questions and I;ll try to help.

Hi Mattie!

I apologize for not replying sooner. I've been so busy lately! :coffee:

Thank you for helping me out!^_^ (Speaking of...) I'm having some trouble with my lower looper. The looper was working fine until this morning - I swear! I'm afraid I might have broken or bent the lower looper. When I begin to serge the lower looper skips stitches and there's a clicking sound when it does. I've rethreaded the machine multiple times and even adjusted the settings but...no luck. How can I tell if the looper is kaput? (p.s. when it does sew a few stitches inbetween the skipped ones, there is no clicking sound.)

Before you do anything, change needles and rethread again, make sure you are threading the serger in the right order otherwise you can do it a million times and it still won't work! When the needles are dull they will make what sounds like a popping noise and your stitches will skip.

Pixie,
I would start by changing the needles and re-threading again. Also make sure you don't have a ball of lint sitting under the throat plate. What were you serging when you first started having the problem, did you get a fabric jam around the stitch finger and maybe pull it out too hard? The Imagine is a study machine and it could be that your needles are dull or one might have gotten a burr or slight bend in it, thats the only time I have ever had any problems with mine.....I was always bad about changing the needles in my machines but have tried to be more consistant in that lately and can notice a difference in how my machines stitch. So try cleaning any lint out of it, change the needles and re-thread and see if it works, make sure you have the dials set to the right number and letter and let me know if any of this helps.

Pixie, besides changing your needles..you also want to make sure the needles are seated up as far as they will go into the needle bar. The needles will not be even. One looks to be higher than the other. Somebody on another site was having problems and it was because she had the needles inserted wrong, making them even at the needle tip. They are not even, one is higher than the other if using just 2 needles. I have 5 needles on my serger and try to always make sure the needles are seated properly.
