I was marking some of our kids exam papers last week. On a question of "why did Edward Jenner vaccinate more than one person?" (Jenner rubbed cowpox scabs into cuts to prevent against smallpox as he had noticed that milkmaids who had cowpox seemed to be immune to smallpox) I loved the answer that one of my small fry wrote: "so he could kill more people" not quite the answer required but I'm sure many people felt that way at the time! One bright spark when asked what was the light source that cast a shadow of a stick in the playground answered "the sun, which is a ball of incandescant gas where the electrons are excited so much they they give off light which takes 8 minutes to travel from the sun to earth" all he needed to say was "the sun" love and kisses, Jan

I'm not concinced you have to teach kids how to lie Kath, "who made this mess?" is nearly always followed by " so and so did it" when so and so hasn't learnt how to crawl yet and is still on the other side of the room. One of the cleaners at our place told her son that babies came from a goosberry patch when he was 4(I think). Now he is 6 and asking "why did you pick me from the bush? How did I get there? why did you choose me out of all the others" Boy o boy has she got a mess to sort out. This could be classed teaching them how to lie...this lady was so startled by the "where did I come from ?" question that she just blurted out the first thing that came into her head and hoped he wouldn't remember...not a chance! love and kisses, Jan

cute answers! I love seeing/hearing what little ones write. I'll never forget when my middle son was about 5 or 6, his class did a favorite recipe book and his starts out something like, My favorite is macaroni & cheese. First you open the blue box and pour it into the pan with some water in it........ So much for his mom who loves to cook from scratch! I laughed so hard!! And still do giggle when I remember it! Lyn

When all 4 of our kids were growing up I'd ask who did what, like when a mess was made, who put the empty cracker box in the cupboard or whatever. Each one would say " not me ". I looked for that kid named NOT ME for years. Now there is just DH & I here & so help me that kid is still here " somewhere." |

Sorry Jan....I was never a kid (the terrible truth) and I have made it a point to stay away from them...(I'm afraid of what I might do to one...thats why I never had any)...

Lyn, Do you think that the " NOT ME" kid slips in with the first born & then never leaves ? My DH seems to love both, the" not me "&" I don't know " kids. He seems to say their names a lot. |
