I want to do a decorative two thread chain stitch on the front of a shirt. With this stitch if you pull the string it's gone. Since this is just a little embellishment and not holding anything together that isn't too big a deal but I'd kinda like it to stay there. So what would you all suggest I do at the beginning and end of the chain.
It will be the first thing I do on the shirt and eventually the ends will be in the hem and under the facing.
At this point I'm considering stitching across it a couple times with the sewing machine, dripping a little fray check on it then tying a knot with the threads.
Think it's overkill??

You can lock the chainstitch by using your scissors to cut into the chain then give a tug on the needle thread on the other side of the material. I hope this helps.

I'll practice it a few times so I get it right.
Thanks. Sure sounds easier and more secure than the ways I was thinking.
