I can't seem to get my knife to cut fabric when I'm sewing at all, I have tried changing it and repositioning it but it won't cut, is there something else I can do? I know the one knife is good cause I haven't used it much. :coffee:

Knives usually last for years depending on fabric used etc. If a knife was bad you would get jagged cuts but since your knives are not cutting at all, it sounds like the knife is not in proper position. You might have already checked this but be sure that both knives are engaged and in correct postions. I also suggest to readjust your stitch cutting width and see if that helps. Good luck.

I am married to a mechanic who told me that before I ever tried to replace my serger knife that I should use a permanet marker and outline it for placement so I could get it back into the right position. It worked perfectly! If it isn't cutting then yes, it isn't in the right position. Good luck on getting it to that right spot.

Dolo, I was wondering if your knife is functionion ok now? Even though new sergers come with extra knives, I would still take mine to a tech to install them..they have to be precise. I had to buy knives for my old Babylock and had a tech install them when I sent the machine in to get a tension knob fixed. I even had a sent a new spare set of knives with my machine when I traded it in. I didn't keep them because my new sergers have different types of knives.

You girls are going to think I'm retarded or something, well I had my hubby check it out and he started fiddiling around with it and said that the knife needed to fit in the little grove and I said I've tried that, but there is a knob on the left that turns the knife down when you don't want it to cut your fabric I remember turning that with a screwdriver one time, I must of turned all they way around to the other side where there was the same grove but it wasn't right side so we flipped it and it works Yea!!!!!! :bg:

I can't tell you how many times I've done that and nearly thrown the machine out the window, before I descovered I disabled the knives...duh...
