In the world of chemicals, a constant battle rages between the chemical supervillains and the chemical secret agents. The most esteemed of these is one (OO)7, international dyeing agent of mystery. On one particularly hairy mission, he finds himself pitted against the evil genius of lore, Dr. Nitrogen Monoxide, who has set a devious trap in the form of an ordinary piece of white cloth. After plummeting through a cleverly placed mechanosensitive membrane protein, (OO)7 is shocked to find himself soaking in to a tightly bound mesh of cotton fibers. (He is, after all, a dyeing agent !) In desperation, he calls to his nemesis, "Do you expect me to talk, NO?" The villain only chuckles maniacally. "No Mr Dye, I expect you to bond." love and kisses, Jan

A bloke starts his new job at the zoo and is given three tasks. The first is to clear the exotic fish pool of weeds. As he does this, a huge fish jumps out and bites him. To show the others who's boss, he beats it to death with a spade. Realizing his employer won't be best pleased, he disposes of the fish by feeding it to the lions, as lions will eat anything. Moving on to the second job of clearing out the chimpanzee house, he is attacked by the chimps who pelt him with coconuts. He swipes at two chimps with a spade, killing them both. What can he do? "Feed them to the lions", he says to himself, "because lions eat anything." *He hurls the corpses into the lion enclosure. He moves on to the last job, which is to collect honey from the South American Bees. *As soon as he starts he is attacked and stung by the bees. He grabs the spade and smashes the bees to a pulp. *By now he knows what to do and throws them into the lion's cage - because lions eat anything. Later that day a new lion arrives at the zoo. *He wanders up to another lion and says, "What's the food like here?" *The other lion turns round and says, "Absolutely brilliant. *Today we had fish and chimps and mushy bees" love and kisses, Jan

I don't get the mushy bees part. Is that because I am American? Dorothy |

sorry Dorothy, I forgot about the ned to traslate. In fish and chip shops around the country ( especially where Domestic Goddess comes from) they sell "mushy peas" to go with you fish and chips. Peas - big fat marrowfat peas bioled untill they burst out of their skins and go mushy. Can't stand 'em myself - I prefer my peas small, sweet and crisp. Got to keep your husband amused Kath or I am in big trouble! love and kisses, Jan

Ahh yes. Little green balls of mushy poison. When my daughter was little we read a book about a hedgehogy kind of thing that was eating peas for dinner and chanted "Little green balls of mushy poison." Although my daughter liked peas she would chant the song every time we had peas. Last week I was talking to her on the phone and asked her what her boyfriend had cooked her for dinner that night and she said "little green balls of mushy poison." So I guess I should have figured it out. It sounds gross. We eat coleslaw with fish and chips here. Dorothy |
