I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up
something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth.
I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do
that.

"Why?" my daughter asked.
"Because it's been laying outside, you don't know where it's
been, it's dirty and probably has germs" I replied.

At this point, my daughter looked at me with total
admiration and asked, "Wow! How do you know all this stuff?"

"Uh," I was thinking quickly, "All Moms know this stuff.
It's on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a
Mommy."

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was
evidently pondering this new information. "Oh...I get it!" she
beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to be the daddy."

My 3 yr old dd and I were walking in Bath & Body Works last week. She had some cereal in those cups with the flexible lids so she could take a few out at a time but if it tipped over nothing would fall out. Well, she dropped a piece of cereal on the floor in the store and as she bended down to pick it up I said, "No Cassandra, it's dirty." I have never seen (and probably will never see again) this kid move so fast to put that piece of cereal in her mouth. It was like lightening! I thought the couple behind us were going to wet their pants they were laughing so hard. They were still talking about it as they left the store. I've got to admit, if I saw that happen to somebody else I'd be laughing too.
I guess I barely passed the Mommy test - I should have been faster, but in my defense she's closer to the ground!

You have to be able to apply the 5 second rule. If it has been on the ground less than 5 seconds it is still clean!

When faced with the constant "Why?" ( You know, don't eat that - why - no you can't run in the road - why- you are not allowed to kill people - why -) I once resorted to the :"It's the law" answer thinking that will stop it but no,
"Why? why is it the law?"
I had to pull my ace out of the hole -
"because the Queen said so."
That shut her up.

I guess most of you can't use that one.

I totally agree Judy. This morning started out really ugly, and I sat down here for 15 minutes and when I left for work I was smiling from ear to ear!

It is good, makes you grin. I guess we could say the Prime Minister said so but my grandson would say he was crazy too.

Oh I'm sure I have failed the mommy test many times over! My mother always said germs only kill the first one and then they are OK.
My oldest survived so Sarah is good to go!

My little one is obsessed with her nose so it's nothing now for us to be rolling along with her in the stroller (you know where we cannot directly see her face) only to find out she's had both fingers stuck up her nose!!!
