First of all, I would like to Thank all of you that have helped me with my questions. I really appreciate it.

WHen you are piecing a quilt on a serger, which threads do you use? Can you use all 4 to really SECURE the quilt or is the straight stitch the best thing.
I have a great machine, but I would like to try to piece my quilt on the serger and I have noooo clue what Im doing. I tried last night, but it seemed that my thread wasnt tight enough, regardless of how high/low I set the tension.

Can anyone help? I need info asap as Ive got to complete this quilt this week. :nervous:

Sorry, I have never tried to sew a quilt on a serger. I have heard of it though. Anyone, can you answer this for Stephanie?

I haven't used my serger for quilting either. Will be interested to see what others say.

I saw piecing by serger demonstrated a long time ago at the fabric store. The quilt top looked very nice and the lady demonstrating the technique was stressing how quickly the top comes together. Here is a project for making a baby quilt by serger. Perhaps you can apply the basic instructions to your project.Serger Baby Quilt (http://www.sewvac1.com/Library/serger_baby_quilt.htm)

Our ASG Neighborhood Group made the 6 Hour quilt by serger. They used a 4 thread overlock stitch and did some flatlocking. It was really pretty when finished. Sorry that I dont have the instructions to send you.
Happy Stitching!

It's scary but I think I even understand their directions - which is hard for me as I'm a very visual learner but I think I understand it enough I might even try it. Thanks for the site.
