Help!!! I'll be serging along when my machine will make a noise and skip a stitch. It will continue serging, make the noise and skip a stitch. Can someone help me? Everything is threaded correctly and the material that I'm using is cotton. The fabric isn't even doubled. The needle isn't bent either, I checked. I have a Singer Ultralock. Thanks in advance for your help. Melissa |

Melissa it sounds like one of your threads is hanging up somewhere. Make sure you have the telescoping thread stand centered above the cones. If you are using spools instead of cones make sure the thread is not hanging up on the end of the spool. If you watch the threads while you are sewing you will probably see the offending cone jerk after it hangs up.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

Hi I have a Singer Ultralock 14U234 and had trouble with it skipping stitches. It started after I changed needles. I checked the new needle against the old needle (which had gotten bent due to a thread jam) and they were different lengths but I had the "right needle" to replace it so went ahead. After checking everything several times, cleaning, etc. I took it to the repair man at the Singer dealer. He cleaned, timed and replaced the needles. But still it skipped. After checking internet sources, I discovered that the U234 requires a special needle Whic I got from www.Sewshop.com. It is 2054-06. Even the repairman did not know it required a special needle. |

The needle size should be listed on a tag above the needlebar. That neede is ussually easier to find with the European number EL705. Have fun or don't do it, Tom
