Here you go --
give it a try.

http://www.flashbynight.com/test/

I came out 22 percent smarter than average -- of course that is the average person dumb enough to waste time on the quiz.

I scored 19, so that makes you slightly smarter than me!:bg: (tongue in cheek) -- because you are older you have more wisdom! :bg: :bg: :bg: :bg:

I'm not sure knowing stuff and having wisdom are the same thing. In my job I meet a lot of stupid people that know a lot of stuff.

"I'm not sure knowing stuff and having wisdom are the same thing. In my job I meet a lot of stupid people that know a lot of stuff."

That's absolutely true, Dorothy! My ex was like that. Very, very intelligent in his field but had no common sense what so ever. "Common sense isn't common" as they say.

I am up there with Dorothy at 22 - which considering they are American biased questions (How the hell do I know where Clinton came from - and wasn't it Churchill at the end of WWII???) I think I must be fab!

I always tell people that Knowledge is knowing stuff - a lot of people can do that eg Trekkies

but wisdom is knowing what to do with that knowledge eg knowing when NOT to speak Kingon....

Kepla!

19 for me. Happy enough with my score (particularly without some of the background - thanks for pointing that out Jan) but would really like to see the test in slow motion and what the correct answers are. Thats a real issue for me - I don't mind going wrong but I'd like to be able avoid it next time round.

Jan's absolutely right. If this were a test based in another culture I'd bomb out. I think Jan and Pauline did incredibly well.

Now to the point - This is no IQ test (though it is fun, Dorothy). This is a test about general knowledge not your capacity for learning and using your brain which is your Intelligence Quotient.

Figuring things out is a whole lot different than remembering facts.

Remember word problems? Figuring out how "JIJOL" relates to "BHGTY" are the types of questions IQ tests invariably address. Listing what comes next in a series. Seeing the connections in things. Understanding concepts; that shows intelligence. Not remembering where Bill Clinton was born.

I absolutely STINK at math and logic problems. I like words and remember trivia. I think I'm pretty average.

We had a TV show here last year and the year before called "The National IQ Test" - it was run in conjunction with a newspaper or magazine and a 2 (or was it 3?) hour show. It broke down the test into areas of problem solving, general knowledge, spatial analysis, maths etc. etc. Very interesting to see where your particular areas of skill lay. Interestingly I did heaps better the second show having had a large cup of strong coffee beforehand. All that caffeine must have woken up some brain cells lying dormant. :bg: Or the 2nd test was easier.

Discussion around the water coolers of the nation definitely pointed to the fact that people did better in the areas in which their mind is normally active - proving the point - if you don't use it you lose it.

So keep those mind teasers a'comin.

we had one of those "Test the National IQ "shows as well - I enjoyed them but people at work did start to get a bit competative!

It has been proved that caffeine makes your sperm swim faster ( not your obviously Pauline) so could be used in infertility problems of motility - and that alcohol and cannabis slow them right down!

I got 19, but I didn't realize that the answers were on a timer (that's why the little clock was going on the right side :nervous: ) So while I was thinking the questions were going past me. Then sometimes I'd remember the answer after I clicked a wrong one, and you can't go back! That was still fun though. Where did Clinton come from - Arkansas?
