Has anyone used their serger to do a blanket stitch look on fleece blankets? I have tried to use a two thread stitch and pearl cotton but, I'm not thrilled with the results.

If you have a serger that will do a true blanket stitch, I'd like to see it. The only edging I know of...and there are variations..would be related to a serged "rolled" edge and it doesn't look like a blanket stitch.

Pam, the new 5 thread Elna 745 model has a built in blanket stitch in the dial a stitch program. It also has a built in 2 thread converter which came separate inside the storage compartment of my 744. The 745 I believe replaces the 744 which is now discontinued. The 744 is only a 4 thread not a 5 thread like the 745 but I think most of the other specs are similar between the machines including the rest of the stitches, auto tensions and 3 different coverhems. Since Janome heads Elna they also have several other new sergers. I don't know if the new ones are made in Japan like the 744 and 945. The computerized 945 top of the line does not seem to be discontinued as yet. My 744 is not computerized and I am unsure if the 745 is but I don't think it is if I remember correctly after viewing the Elna site.
One can also do a blanket stitch on a regular serger by adjusting the tensions. Someone posted on another forum how to do this.

Here are a couple of links to instructions for getting a blanket stitch effect on the serger...Don't know if they work.
