I have a White Speedyloc !500. It is ten years but hasn't had a lot of use till ;now. I spend hours trying to adjust the tensions snd getting sn acceptable stitch. Right now I am try to sew on some cotten fabric, about the weight of a twill. I ordered the specific needles that the video it came with said was the only needles to use (organ brand) I tried my schmetz household needles and the machine kept breaking thread. Finaly fiddeled around for a few more hours and got a decent rolled hem. Now I just want to seam up a dress and one of the needle threads wants to creat loose loops on the underside. The top side looks great. It is definitely a needle thread because the needle threads are white and the looper threads are dark. What on earth can the problem be. I have adjusted tensions and am ready to ditch the machine. Are speedylocs notorious for being difficult to adjust. Belinda |

There are numerous possibilities, but one of the most common is not actually getting the thread between the tension disks. On household SMs, the disks part to allow the thread to enter when you raise your presser foot, but on sergers like this, they do not, and you must physically pull the thread into the disks. Bill. thank you! I thought I had made sure the thread was in the disks but I will check again. Belinda |

Bill I think you were correct in that I wasn't getting my thread oll the way on the hook in the tension disk contraption. I also had missed the guide hole in the first thread guide for the left needle (looped it around the arm but forgot the hole) My powers of observation are not astute enough for this machine. Thank so much for your help. Belinda |

Had the old Speedylock going pretty good for a while and then got a thread jam and now it wont form a stitch. Got a project I need to finish by tomorrow. Could it be that when the thread jammed that I bent the upper looper while trying to unjam it??. Well, guess I'll just shop a little harder for a easier to use serger. |

"Could it be that when the thread jammed that I bent the upper looper while trying to unjam it??." Anything is possible. When you have a problem like this, it's best to start back at square one. Unthread everything. Install new needles making sure that they are in all the way with the flat sides back. Rethread, starting with the upper looper, then the lower looper, then the needles. Do these things carefully and you sometimes eliminate whatever was causing the problem. "Well, guess I'll just shop a little harder for a easier to use serger." And a dealer who can/will help. Thanks Bill, I have been trying out a uses white superlock 2000 ats. It operates quieter and a bit better than the 1500 i have . Have you got any comments on the Superlock 2000 besides that it is out of production. I know the dealer hates to see me comming. I really am willing to pay for what I can afford or perhaps do without. I know there are good used machines out there. I just keep hoping and looking. I just wont spend what I do not have. Belinda |

"Have you got any comments on the Superlock 2000 besides that it is out of production." Sorry. Model numbers for machines under 10-20 years old mean nothing to me. Maybe Tom Land will jump in, since he is still active with the modern machines. Bill Holman |

Belinda, have you checked out PatternReview on line for reviews on the White 2000 ATS? I think there are some reviews on this serger by owners. |

Kylnne2, I don't seem to be able to find a review on the white superlock 2000 on pattern review but I am not familiar with how to get around on that site. |

Grandma, when in the site go to the left of the page under sewing machine reviews, click on that, and it brings you to a new page and at the top of that page there is a list of the different brands, click on White and it will bring you to the reviews on White sewing machines and sergers. I think there are over 10 reviews on the 2000. |

Kylnne, Thank You. I don't know why that was so hard the first time but I followed your instruction and I am sattisfied that I have a reputible machine though It is out of production and I need to find the accessories. It is much easier to thread than the White 1500. |
