My mom has the newest Husqvanra (my grandpa bought it for her). She says it's "ours" (hers and mine) but I notice she doesn't let me take it home for a day or so! ;-)

We have been using a five-thread overlock w/chain stitch and the left needle (part of the chain) keeps coming unthreaded. The dealer told us this was due to "cheap thread" and a possible dull needle. We will trial those issues but I suspect something else is the problem. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this occur and knows what it could be?

Any tips or advice is appreciated!

Blackie it is most likely the thread or needle. When doing a chain stitch or coverhem make sure you are using the EL705 needles. Try another brand of thread. Double check your threading. Make sure the thread is getting behind the last thread guide on the needle clamp.

Thanks for your response!

We have changed the thread and checked threading. Can you explain EL705 needles?

I use Schmetz ELx705 needles on my Elna serger with coverhem. This needle comes in two sizes 80/12 and 90/14. It is an industrial type needle that ensures proper stitch formation at high speeds. The scarf allows the looper to come near the needle to catch the thread to form the stitch and this is the needle that is recommended for my machine for sewing the various Cover hem stitches.
This needle also came with my other brand serger that is not a coverhem model.

Last night we put high-end thread on the needle and it happened LESS but still happened. My mom is taking the serger in to get looked at today. Perhaps I was running it too fast, as I have a tendency to do.

We will get a few of those needles, too.

Thank you!
