I know some of you will say who's Red Skelton, right? Before my time, right? Take a look.......

RED SKELTON'S RECIPE FOR THE PERFECT MARRIAGE

1. Two times a week, we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage, good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays, I go on Fridays.

2. We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California, and mine is in Texas.

3. I take my wife everywhere..... but she keeps finding her way back.

4. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said. So I suggested the kitchen.

5. We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.

6. She has an electric blender, electric toaster and electric bread maker. She said "There are too many gadgets and no place to sit down!" ... So I bought her an electric chair.

7. My wife told me the car wasn't running well because there was water in the carburetor. I asked where the car was; she told me:

"In the lake."

8. She got a mud pack and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off.

9. She ran after the garbage truck, yelling "Am I too late for the garbage?" .... The driver said "No, jump in!"

10. Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.

11. I married Miss Right. I just didn't know her first name was Always.

12. I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months. I don't like to interrupt her.

13. The last fight was my fault though. My wife asked "What's on the TV?" I said "Dust!"

Can't you just hear him say all of these?
This is the good old days when humor didn't have to start with a four letter word........ just clean and simple fun!
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Sounds more like Rodney Dangerfield.

Funny, Susie. Thanks,

I grew up watching Red Skelton. My dad loved to watch him, as did I. Red and his wife lived about 20 miles from the small town I live in now. I would see them around town once in awhile. I even waited on him a time or two in one of our local restaurants. He was always very kind and gracious. Just thought I would share:smile:

Anza54, That pic you have for your Avetar is that your feeder? I have one and I love watching them feed. I call them my babies. They are so little and delicate looking.

I loved Red too. He could make you laugh and his jokes were for the whole family to enjoy. I remember one skit he had where he was smelling his own feet stinking. It was hiliarious. He had you laughing from your belly. A good laugh. He appeared to me to be a very kind man just the way he handled hisself.

Hi MotherInLaw, Yes that is one of my feeders from last season.. I had so many hummers last year I went through a 10# bag of sugar a week. Loved sitting on the porch in the morning with my cup of coffee and watch and listen to them. I am still waiting patiently for them all to come back. I have a few now but not anything like last year. I absolutely love watching my babies. I call them that as well:smile:

Red Skelton has always been one of my favorites. I remember when he passed away, I was on my way to work and there seemed to be a lot of stars passing at that time. When the radio station started the intro on the item, I recognized who it was right away and I just saying, "No, no, no ..." I actually cried a bit (the only one who moved me that way). I have one of his video tapes, now I'll have to get it out and watch it! Do you remember the movie he did where he was the clown with the little boy? It was more a drama than a comedy. Heart wrenching! Do you remember that at the end of his weekly show he would always say, "Good night and God bless." You certainly don't hear that anymore! He was definitely a great man.

Have you ever heard him do the Pledge of Allegiance?
It was played on the radio quite a bit right after 9-11. I have it saved on my computer it really makes you think. I found this link to it I hope it works! http://www.poofcat.com/july.html

We used to watch his show & Ed Sullivan on Sunday night. My Dad would pick his Mother up & bring her for Sunday dinner & then we would all watch together eating her Mollasses cookies (the best) or her carmel pop corn balls. Great memories!!!!

My 14-yo DD just saw her first Red Skelton video a few weeks ago. She thought he was hilarious. I was surprised that his humor transcended the generations. She especially liked him reading the poem "Frogs." It was hilarious.
